How does the game of hockey work?
An NHL hockey rink is about 200ft long and 85ft wide. Some hockey terms you might of heard of are passing, shooting, cross checking, hooking, fighting, slashing, and icing. Those are just some terms they use in hockey.
Passing and Shooting: These terms are fairly easy to understand passing is when you hit the puck to another player on your team and you keep passing it. Shooting is when you hit the puck either at the net or to another player.
Cross Checking: When a player checks someone with both hands.
Hooking: When a player "hooks" his/her with their hockey stick.
Fighting: This is another fairly easy term to understand, Fighting is when the player(s) throw off their gloves and start fist fighting. The proper call for this is called Fisticuffs.
Slashing: When a player hits his/her opponent with their stick to cause injury or impede them.
Icing: When the player shoots the puck pass the center redline and the opposing goal line and the puck is untouched.
